Camping at Fallen Leaf

We had an excellent family vacation over the 4th of July weekend.

We have been planning and hoping to be able to go camping with Papa Bear’s family for the Holiday weekend.  So when the time came we started preparing, packing, buying and organizing our stuff so we could go.  Then the day before came and all still looked good for going.  Then Thursday was here.  At 3:00 PM there was still no fires and it still looked good for Papa Bear to come home.  Then at 4:00 PM there was a fire.  HUMPH!!!  My frustrations with the job started all over again.  There goes our family camping trip.  I called Papa Bear really early the next morning HOPING that we still might be able to go.  And finally we did go.  We left the house later than we wanted to and arrived up at our campground later than we wanted to but we were there.

The girls had a ball playing with their cousins and with grandma and grandpa.  Silly Girl rode her bike as much as she could, rode in the stroller during bike rides, took walks with grandma and grandpa while walking Chicka and went into the lake.  Lil’ Monster crawled all over the place turning herself pretty black.  It was sure a nice chore to keep her semi-clean, especially around the hands and face.

And Papa Bear of course took his kayak out on the lake.  I even had a chance to take the kayak out and Silly Girl went with me for a ride too.  But of course we don’t have any kayak pictures because Papa Bear forgot to take the camera when he went to the lake.  But that might have been a blessing in disguise since he tipped the kayak while he had the sail on in a big gust of wind that came up.  Now we only have one working cell phone battery for the two of us.  So right now my cell phone doesn’t work.

And Silly Girl ended up with her own assortment of war wounds. Silly Girl 100_3561 has always had a bad reaction to mosquito bites especially on her face.  So the first night that we were there at camp we were looking out for the mosquitoes but she ended up getting bit anyways.  The next morning she woke up with her eye almost swollen closed.  Right about the time that her eye was starting to look better Papa Bear went with Silly Girl so she could ride her bike for awhile.  The little stinker rode her bike right under a tree branch and was scratched right under her swollen eye.  The picture to the left is the day after.  She was a really good sport about it all.100_3514

While we were all at the lake enjoying our selves Lil’ Monster was down crawling and playing in the dirt and rocks.  She was having so much fun.

Silly Girl and Papa Bear were wading out into the shallow parts of the lake and were standing on the rocks.  Here they are standing on a bigger rock that was sticking out of the Lake.  Papa Bear and Silly Girl were taking turns playing fetch with one of the dogs with us too.

On the last morning that we were there Papa Bear started packing us up early so we might have time to have some fun later.  While Papa Bear was packing Silly Girl was hijacking rides with whom ever she could get to give her one.  The one on the left is Silly Girl with grandma on the scooter and the one on the right is her cousin Seth on his bike.  As you can tell she was enjoying herself.

About Mama Bear

I'm a Stay-at-Home mom, busy firefighter wife, start up rancher and computer lover. I have three wonderful, extra special kids. My sweet kids have ADHD, Dyslexia and Autism. In order for me to be able to keep up with my firefighter's schedule, the kids' activities and their special lessons I have taken up bullet journaling. I love how I can be creative and I can make it suit my needs.
