Day 24 ~ “For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power o the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles. . . and he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father in Heaven and earth, and the creator of all things from the beginning. . . CHRISTMAS EVE PROGRAM
Opening Prayer:
Song: Hymn #202 Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful 1st & 2nd Verse
18 ¶Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Song: Hymn #208 O, Little Town of Bethlehem 1st Verse
Scripture Reading: Luke 2:15-20
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
Scripture Reading: Matthew 2:1-11
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judæa in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
20 And
the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things
that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Song: Hymn #209 Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Scripture Reading: Narration
The wise men did not come the night Jesus was born as the shepherds did. They saw the star in the east and raveled far to see him. They arrived in Palestine from the east sometime later, perhaps even months later.
There is no account that tells us just how many wise men came to worship the Savior. There may have been three; there may have been seven; there may have been ten. But how many come is not so important. What is important is that they were wise men who came to present their gifts and worship this wondrous child. We today should remember that wise men still seek him.

Song: Hymn #210 With Wondering Awe
Scripture Reading: Matthew 2:1-11
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When
they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they
saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the
young child was.
11 ¶And
when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary
his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened
their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
